How is the Library Funded?
The Osterville Village Library is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with less than 25% of our funding coming from the Town of Barnstable. To bridge the gap, we rely on community support and fundraisers, such as our annual car raffle and Paint the Village, as well as our yearly appeal to raise the additional $900,000 needed to continue serving our community. Every contribution makes a difference!
Do you have a Fax Machine/Shredder/Copy Machine?
Yes! Our Business Center features a fax/copy/scanner machine and a shredder, and there’s a copy machine on our lower level. Just ask one of our team members, and they’ll point you in the right direction.
Where can I go for technology assistance?
Our reference librarians are happy to help! Stop by for a quick tech question, or schedule an appointment for more in-depth assistance—whether it’s troubleshooting, learning a new device, or using our library resources.
How do I find out what is happening at the Library?
Visit our Events Page to see what’s coming up, and don’t forget to join our email list for the latest updates and special announcements.

Wonderful! Check out our Meeting Space Descriptions for more information, then complete an application and email it to our Director, Cyndy Cotton, at cyndycotton@clamsnet.org.
Is the Library ADA accessible?
Yes! Our library is fully accessible, with an elevator serving all three floors and a ramp leading to the back entrance. Both entrances have automatic door openers for your convenience.
What services are available for those with visual impairments?
We offer a variety of resources, including large-print books, audiobooks, and eAudiobooks via the Libby/Overdrive app. We also have a print magnification device in the fireside reading room, and we’re happy to connect patrons with services from the Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library.
Is Osterville Village Library part of CLAMS?
Yes! We are proud to be part of the CLAMS network, which connects nearly all libraries on Cape Cod and the Islands,
How do I get a library card?
You can obtain a CLAMS library card at any CLAMS library in person, or you can apply for a temporary CLAMS eCard online.
The eCard is for patrons who do not already have a CLAMS library card and may be upgraded to a physical library card with borrowing privileges by visiting your local CLAMS library. You are eligible to apply for an eCard, if you live in a Massachusetts town and do not currently have a library card from a CLAMS member library.
Your temporary eCard allows you to:
- Place up to 5 requests on print Books, DVDs, CDs, etc. in the CLAMS Catalog.
- Login to your account.
- Use State-provided online research databases (within Massachusetts only).
- Access our online collection of OverDrive ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines.
Do you have notary services?
Yes, we do! Our Business Operations Manager, Maryann Colombo, is a notary public. We ask for a $5 donation for notary services. Please call ahead to confirm Maryann’s availability.
