OVL Cape Cod Literacy Project
Childhood and adult literacy and literacy among non- English speaking residents of Cape Cod are both enduring casualties of the 2020 Covid Pandemic. Programs such as “Cape Literacy” have to date not regrouped to provide the essential community resource of reading, writing and language skills.
The Osterville Village Library is honored to receive a grant from First Literacy to help bridge the gap in adult literacy. Beginning in Fall 2025, we will launch Adult Book Tastings—a fun, welcoming, and encouraging way to explore learning. By introducing participants to books and resources in a variety of formats, from traditional print to audio and digital tools, we aim to resonate with different learning styles and inspire confidence. This initiative reflects our commitment to making literacy accessible for all, while celebrating that learning can be engaging and enjoyable at any stage of life.

OVL currently provides access to thousands of online courses in Portuguese, Spanish and ther languages. These video courses in business, software, technology, and creative skills, are taught by recognized industry experts. You need a CLAMS library card issue by OVL to access.

Library books available for checkout include the Wonderbook that reads to you and our growing collection of bilingual books. Coming soon are the Launchpads for English learners. All of our tools available inside the library are adaptable for all ages.

Earn your diploma online, reach your education and career goals with Gale Presents: Excel Adult High School, an accredited high school completion program available free to eligible adults through the library. Earn your diploma online, on your terms, and graduate ready for your next step. The program is self-paced and can be completed in up to 24 months. Participants can graduate in less time with transfer credits. Students have access to unlimited one-on-one tutoring sessions and support from success coaches.
