 Dr. Dunn will present, Lure of the Lore  The goal of the exhibition is not only to display a representative series of mainly 19th century marine paintings (some pieces are 20th century), and discuss their artistic merit, but also, via carefully researched descriptions, point out their historical and geographic connections.  These are features that transform marine art from pretty paintings to actual historic documents. Exhibit will be at library throughout the summer.Lure of the Lore

Description:  This illustrated lecture will present the watershed plan for Three Bays that was designed by the Cape Cod Commission to address the water quality problems caused by excessive nitrogen.  The plan includes a range of innovative strategies including storm water management, fertilizer controls, permeable reactive barriers, pond dredging, wetland restoration, fertigation, alternative septic system technologies, and aquaculture.

Lure of the Lore

 Dr. Dunn will present, Lure of the Lore  The goal of the exhibition is not only to display a representative series of mainly 19th century marine paintings (some pieces are 20th century), and discuss their artistic merit, but also, via carefully researched descriptions, point out their historical and geographic connections.  These are features that transform marine art from pretty paintings to actual historic documents. Exhibit will be at library throughout the summer.Lure of the Lore

Digital Storytelling, Preserving the Past for the Future
Simply put, digital stories are multimedia movies that combine photographs, video, sound, music, text, and often a narrative voice. Teens (ages 10 and up) and adults can come to the library and let Cape Cod Community Media Center staff show  planning tools and pro tips needed to create digital movies.  
 
Whether you’re a teen documenting an event to post online, or a grandparent preserving your family history, come learn how to create stories to share.

Barnstable’s Milestone Opportunity: Implementing the 208 Plan
This illustrated lecture will present the watershed plan for Three Bays that was designed by the Cape Cod Commission to address the water quality problems caused by excessive nitrogen.  The plan includes a range of innovative strategies including storm water management, fertilizer controls, permeable reactive barriers, pond dredging, wetland restoration, fertigation, alternative septic system technologies, and aquaculture.

Students will then design and build a robot, debug and troubleshoot problems,and test their creation.

Students entering grades 4 & 5: Your mission should you choose to accept it is to report to Jr. Spy Academy training! Jr. Spies will learn to analyze ink using chromatography, write and decode messages with invisible ink, use suspect/clue drawing skills, decide as a team on a written code for spy team communication;  learn how to dust for & analyze fingerprints, and more! The Jr. Spies will then use their new skills to work as a team to solve a mystery mission. [Program offered in collaboration with Full STEAM Ahead.]
